The history of the vessel
The story of Christian Radich begins long before the ship was built in 1937. As early as the late 19th century, there was a need to train sailors at a time when Norway was one of the world's largest seafaring nations. Engaged citizens in Kristiania took the initiative to establish training ships that could provide young people with education at sea.
Through several generations, training ships have provided young people with experience, collaboration skills, and respect for life at sea. When Christian Radich was built in 1937, she continued this tradition and became an important symbol of Norwegian maritime cultural heritage.
Today, the legacy lives on – both through sailing, training, and the modern life skills program Windjammer, which gives young people new opportunities and a new course in life.
