Right this moment we are waiting impatiently for the winds to catch our sails, but the Tall Ships Races are not just about winning a regatta! Team spirit and cooperation are important for secure sailing and driving the ship forwards, and the fact that our trainees range from youth to pensioners and come from all corners of the world makes sailing extra fun and challenging. This year we have trainees from more than 20 countries on four continents – Europe, Asia, South America and USA – on board.
When you’re out to sea, weather conditions determine your living conditions and general well being, and are therefore a natural topic for conversation. Trainees come together to solve practical tasks and share experiences, which makes it easy to find something to talk about. These are some of the reasons why sailing is an excellent platform for people of all ages from all over the world to gather around!
