An Atlantic crossing is a long, and in many ways demanding voyage. The better prepared you are, the greater experience you will have! Here is some information, we hope you will find useful for your Atlantic Crossing. It is important to read this in forehand. Please contact us if anything is unclear.

We are not able to provide any travel requirements or specific information related to your passport and the country you are traveling from. This must be checked and organized by you. There are different visa and vaccination rules from different countries, and therefore you must check the requirements regarding travelling from your country to The Caribbean Islands and to Europe.

Health declaration

Remember to send us your health declaration filled out and signed. You find the link on the confirmation you receive after you have done the booking. You can also download the health declaration here:

If you are over 67 years, you must send us the health declaration, signed by your doctor.

Las Palmas

Christian Radich will stay at the cruise terminal St. Catalina. The airport is located approx. 19 km’s south of Las Palmas. There are two means of transport:

A direct bus  leaves from the departure hall (above the arrival hall) twice per hour. Or you can take a taxi to the Cruise terminal (Muelle Sta. Catalina)

St. Martin

St. Martin is divided between a French and a Dutch part. We will give you Christian Radich’s position quayside later. Each national part has their own international airport:

KLM has direct flights from Amsterdam. Air France and Air Caraibes has direct flights from Paris.

The currency is Euro and Dollar. Most places accept equal exchange rates for euros and dollars. Common credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Diners are accepted most places.


Bermuda is British. Christian Radich will stay in St. Georges Bay. British Airways has direct flights from London, it takes ca 8 hours. You can also have a stopover in the US. There are flights from several cities in the US to Bermuda.

There are regular train departures to Stavanger from Oslo via Kristiansand, and the journey takes about eight hours. Stavanger has Norway’s second largest airport when it comes to international air traffic. There are direct flights from more than 60 destinations in Norway and abroad. An airport shuttle bus links the airport and the city centre of Stavanger. It departs every 20 minutes, and travel time is approximately 30 minutes.

Please check the requirements recommended by your country to the chosen destinations.  The Norwegian Health Department advice to take vaccines before travelling to the Caribbean Islands. What kind of vaccines depends on how long you will stay in the country.

Please send us a copy of your vaccine-card before departure. This will probably make registration at the immigration office for the different countries easier.

Passport and visa requirements:

The different countries require different information to be registered before you are allowed to enter. Please register the information listed below as soon as possible in your booking, press guestlist and start to register.

  • Passport, date of issue
  • Passport, expire-date
  • Where your passport is issued
  • If you find it easier, you might send us a copy of your passport.
  • A copy of your vaccine card

Please check the requirements and the validity of the passport from your country to the country you are travelling to and from. These rules may change and in Norway we find the updated information on the web site to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

If you are travelling in transit through USA, you will have to apply for an authorization.

 The mobile network works quite well in the countries we will visit, remember to ask your supplier for costs.

Food and drinks:

Be careful with food and water ashore. Water from bottles should be safe. For more information, please see relevant traveling sites for your country’s recommendations.

On board:

Read the provided packing list carefully. The shop on board will sell cigarettes and some snuff. It’s allowed to smoke outside but, remember to pay attention to the other trainees.  It will be possible to wash clothes on the longer voyages. However, it is wise to bring enough clean underwear for a week’s use.
